Karen Matheson is Sean Connery's favorite vocalist-and it's easy to understand why.( Trivia note:Karen is the one who stands up and sings in the Rob Roy film). Capercaille made the typical Celtic band tansition from Traditional band to a world and modern musical stylings melded with their Scottish roots. Capercaille are among the best at it-and their music has an integrity that makes genre snobbery irrelevant. This 2cd set is an excellent overview of the group's works and shows their natural musical progression-or since the cd starts out in 2004 and works back -regression. I must admit my favorite period is the more intense trad-straddling Sidewaulk from 1989-but it's all great and highly recommended.-sb----------------------------------------------------------------------Dirty Linen (p.53) - "Capercaillie just keeps growing and improving.
